Tours & Experiences in Aswan

Private Aswan Tours.

Egypt slows down here. Philae on its own island, Nubian villages in full color, and a felucca under sail as the granite turns gold.

Egypt's Southern Gateway

The Nile at its most beautiful.

Our private day tours explore Aswan's monuments, its Nubian heart and the far south, all with your own guide and air-conditioned transport. Aswan is the calmest place in Egypt. The Nile widens between granite islands, feluccas cross in the evening light, and the pace drops noticeably. Philae Temple, the High Dam and the Unfinished Obelisk fill a day, the Nubian villages fill another, and Abu Simbel sits three hours south by road or forty-five minutes by air.

Why visit

Why travellers choose Aswan

  • Philae Temple was moved island to island stone by stone to save it from the rising water
  • Nubian villages bring color and music and a culture distinct from the rest of Egypt
  • The felucca sail past Elephantine Island at sunset is the calmest hour in the country
  • Abu Simbel is a day trip from here, by road or by short flight
  • Most Nile cruises begin or end in Aswan, so it pairs naturally with a longer itinerary.
Best time to visit

When to go

October to April. Aswan runs a few degrees warmer than Luxor, so the winter months are especially pleasant — daytime highs around 25°C with dry, clear air. It is one of the best places in Egypt in December and January. Summer is severe, above 45°C, and even early starts are demanding. If you can time it, the Abu Simbel sun festival falls on 22 February and 22 October, when sunlight reaches the inner sanctuary.

Travel tips

Good to know

  • Abu Simbel convoys leave Aswan around 4am — the flight is worth considering if you value sleep
  • Agree felucca prices through us in advance rather than at the waterfront
  • Aswan's souk is smaller and far less pushy than Khan El Khalili in Cairo
  • Bring a light layer for evenings on the water; the desert cools fast after sunset
  • Philae is reached by motorboat, so allow extra time either side of the visit .
