Tours & Experiences in Luxor

Private Luxor Tours.

A third of everything the ancient world left behind is here. Sunrise from a balloon, the Valley of the Kings, then Karnak — all before the crowds.

The World's Greatest Open-Air Museum

A third of the world's monuments, in one city.

Ancient Thebes sat here, and its temples and tombs remain in extraordinary condition. On the East Bank, Karnak and Luxor Temple; on the West Bank, the Valley of the Kings, the terraces of Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon. Two days covers the essentials, four lets you do it without rushing. Every Luxor tour we run is private, with an Egyptologist guide who can read what is on the walls.

Why visit

Why travellers choose Luxor

  • "The Valley of the Kings holds sixty-three royal tombs, their colour still intact
  • Karnak took two thousand years to build and remains the largest religious complex ever raised
  • Hatshepsut's terraced temple is one of the finest buildings of the ancient world
  • Sunrise balloon flights over the West Bank are among the best in the world
  • Luxor is small enough to cross in twenty minutes, so nothing eats your day in transit"
Best time to visit

When to go

October to April is ideal — warm, dry days and cool evenings, perfect for full-day temple touring.

May to September is hot but quiet; we start tours at sunrise and pause during the afternoon heat.

Travel tips

Good to know

  • "The standard Valley of the Kings ticket covers three tombs; Seti I and Tutankhamun cost extra and are worth it
  • Book balloon flights for your first morning — if wind cancels it, you still have days in hand
  • Bring more water than you think you need on the West Bank; there is no shade between tombs
  • Karnak is best in late afternoon when the light comes through the hypostyle hall
  • Photography permits for some tombs are sold separately at the gate"
